Lutheran Sunset Ministries (Clifton), founded in 1954, is the largest Lutheran nursing home in Texas. The facility offers four different levels of care for its residents: independent living apartments for residents 62 and above in good health; units for residents who are self-sufficient but require the reassurance of 24-hour nursing attendance if needed; intermediate nursing care; and total nursing care. It is fully licensed by the Texas Department of Human Services and maintains membership in the American and Texas Associations of Homes and Services for the Aging.
Though actually owned and operated by a corporation of over 40 Lutheran churches, and affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Lutheran Sunset Ministries admits residents of all races, colors, and national origins, regardless of religious preferences.
In 2014, Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest has distributed $15,891 in outright gifts and $141,341 from endowments to Lutheran Sunset Ministries.
